Passion project
A navigation app for skiing. Set up your route and use visual or voice instructions to navigate
The goal of the project is to make ski resort navigation clear and accessible for everyone by replacing paper maps and billboards with a digital solution.
Surveys and interviews highlighted several issues riders face while skiing or snowboarding.
What kind of queues should I expect at the lift?
How to get from one slope to another?
Unclear directions at trail intersections.
Make it back to point X before the slopes close.
History
The initial idea was based on a 3D low-poly resort map with a slightly gamified look. However, during the testing of the first prototypes—built using Unity technology—it became clear that this concept was entirely impractical. 3D maps may look good, but they don’t offer the ease and speed users need.
A year later, it was decided to remove elevation details and simplify the map to a single plane while still incorporating 3D elements.

Final design
The app considers the rider’s skill level and redirects them away from dangerous slopes if their ability is insufficient.
Planning a route takes just a few clicks—then you’re ready to ride.
It’s simple—put on your headphones, start navigation, and hit the slope. If you’re wearing a smartwatch, you’ll get directional cues and vibration alerts.
Feature
Cameras at the base stations count the number of people in line, allowing us to estimate wait times.
Essential spots at the resort are just a few clicks away.

From the start, the idea lacked the right technology.
But with the release of smart glasses, it finally became possible.

The idea is very simple — to highlight the route on the slope using a trail that shows the path to follow and gates that the skier should pass through.
